Kangana Ranaut Emerges Victorious in Mandi Constituency as BJP Candidate
Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut has secured a lead in the Mandi Lok Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh, standing ahead of her Congress competitor Vikramaditya Singh by about 72,000 votes as per the latest data from the Election Commission.
Speaking to the press, Ranaut expressed her emotional response to the unfolding results, attributing her success to the calling of her ‘motherland.’ She emphasized that the election was fought in the name of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and credited the trust and faith of the people in him as instrumental in their potential government formation for the third consecutive term.
Ranaut, with 5,24,079 votes, has outpaced Vikramaditya Singh, son of the late six-time Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, who secured 4,51,226 ballots.
The Mandi Lok Sabha constituency has been a closely watched battleground with the highest voter turnout in the state and a contentious faceoff between Bollywood icon Kangana Ranaut and political scion Vikramaditya Singh.
Mandi, historically a stronghold for Congress leaders like Virbhadra Singh and Pratibha Singh, witnessed a shift in dynamics with BJP‘s Ram Swaroop Sharma clinching victories in 2014 and 2019. The 2021 bypoll, following Sharma’s passing, saw Congress’s win in the seat.
Exit polls predict a clean sweep by BJP in all four seats of Himachal Pradesh, including Mandi, marking significant political developments in the region as Ranaut secures her place as the MP for Mandi.
