Karakat Lok Sabha Election Result 2024: Key Updates and Analysis
The highlight of the recently held Lok Sabha elections in Bihar is the fierce competition on the Karakat seat. This seat has become the center of attention with candidates like Bhojpuri star Pawan Singh, independent contestant, and the NDA-supported candidate Upendra Kushwaha, and the Mahagathbandhan nominee Rajaram Singh.
Karakat has witnessed a triangular battle among these candidates, adding intensity and unpredictability to the election arena. Early reports in the first round of counting suggested that Upendra Kushwaha was leading the race, but subsequent updates and final counts flipped the tables leaving the race wide open.
Key areas like Nokha, Dehri, Goh, Navinagar, and Overa under the Karakat parliamentary constituency have a significant presence of MLAs from the Mahagathbandhan. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the voters favored the BJP, but the 2020 Assembly elections saw a shift in voter preference indicating a more dynamic political landscape in the region.
Karakat, a parliamentary constituency formed after 2009, has traditionally seen dominance by the Rajput and Kushwaha communities in terms of voter representation. Despite differing ideologies, the region has been under the grip of the BJP in the past three Lok Sabha elections.
In this election, the Mahagathbandhan’s candidate Rajaram Singh is leading with a significant margin, followed by Upendra Kushwaha and Pawan Singh. The votes are still being counted, and the final outcome remains eagerly anticipated.
The competition has intensified with Rajaram Singh making gains in Karakat as the numbers continue to tilt in his favor. Independent candidate and Bhojpuri superstar Pawan Singh is trailing behind Kushwaha, marking a shift in the dynamics of the race.
The Karakat seat was won by the JDU in 2019, with Mahabali Singh defeating Upendra Kushwaha by a margin of 84,542 votes. However, historical data from the 2014 elections shows Kushwaha securing victory from this seat with 3,38,892 votes, signaling the unpredictability of electoral outcomes in the region.
