Katt Williams Discusses Controversial Podcast Remarks and Hollywood Dynamics
Comedian Katt Williams recently revisited his explosive appearance on «Club Shay Shay,» reflecting on his headline-grabbing interview with Shannon Sharpe earlier in 2024. During an appearance at Vulture Festival, Williams candidly discussed his intentions behind the now-infamous podcast episode, revealing that he aimed to impact the careers of prominent comedians including Kevin Hart, Steve Harvey, and Tiffany Haddish. Known for his sharp and unapologetic comedic style, Williams did not hold back in his criticisms.
«I set out to kill the careers of the people I was talking about,» Williams confessed, explaining his strategic approach. «But it was so vicious that I erased all of the knockout blows and just left the jabs, so that the comic I’m talking about knows, ‘I know your real story, motherf*ckers.’ Ima tell this, but you know what else I know,» Williams stated at the festival.
The comedian further addressed his outsider status within Hollywood’s elite social circles, particularly in relation to controversies surrounding music mogul Sean «Diddy» Combs. Williams commented, «I’m anti-establishment, so I can never be the establishment. Even if I’m at the Diddy party, I’m there to tell. I’m there to see, Who the f*ck is in here and what do y’all get from being in here? So, nobody likes to have me around. I’m there for bad intentions.»
Additionally, Williams reflected on «Saturday Night Live’s» impersonation of him following his Club Shay Shay interview. He remarked, «A lot of times, when people are doing an impression of you, they’re really showing you how they feel about you. So, for ‘Saturday Night Live’ to have an impression of me and have a woman do that, it means they think I’m a b****.» Williams shared his thoughts on how such portrayals have impacted his career.
