Kevin Rowland and Dexys Deliver Soulful Performance at Glastonbury 2024
Kevin Rowland and Dexys, following standout performances by Paul Heaton and Squeeze, captivated the crowd at Glastonbury 2024 on the Park Stage
Rowland kicked off the set with a soulful rendition of «To Love Somebody,» infusing it with his unique style, reminiscent of Bobby Bland
The band then dived into covers like The Friends Of Distinction’s hits, showcasing Rowland’s talent in making others’ songs his own
Rowland’s outfit, featuring wide-brimmed white hat and silk trousers, stood out as the band, now reduced to a five-piece, took the stage
Acknowledging former bandmates like Kevin ‘Al’ Archer and ‘Big’ Jim Paterson, Rowland paid tribute to their contributions on classics like ‘Geno‘ and ‘Until I Believe In My Soul’
Rowland’s vocals, now at 70, showcased their best form yet as he commanded the stage with hits like ‘Jackie Wilson Said’ and ‘Come On Eileen’
The set included Dexys classics and banter between Rowland and Sean Read, setting a lively atmosphere for the crowd
Despite the smaller band lineup, Rowland’s performance of ‘This Is What She’s Like’ from «Don’t Stand Me Down» was a highlight of the evening
