Khordae Sydnor Returns to Action After Injury in Vanderbilt Game
During Saturday’s football game, Vanderbilt defensive end Khordae Sydnor was assisted off the field after sustaining an apparent injury with 1:13 remaining in the second quarter.
Fortunately, Sydnor made a return to the field in the third quarter after the injury that struck during a play that initially resulted in a 17-yard run for the opposing team, which was later nullified due to a holding penalty.
At the time of the injury, Vanderbilt held a commanding lead of 17-0. Sydnor, who transferred from Purdue to Vanderbilt in the offseason, was starting at defensive end, with redshirt sophomore Linus Zunk serving as his backup. Prior to the injury, Sydnor had not recorded any statistics in the contest.
Vanderbilt’s offense was propelled by the efforts of Diego Pavia, Quincy Skinner, and Sedrick Alexander, who collectively helped the Commodores achieve two touchdowns and a field goal during the first half.
The Commodores have maintained good health throughout preseason, with most injuries affecting players who were not projected to be at the top of the depth chart. The drive by the Hokies ultimately concluded with a field goal, narrowing Vanderbilt’s lead to 17-3 with under a minute remaining until halftime.
