The Los Angeles Kings have secured their future by signing forward Quinton Byfield to a lucrative five-year contract extension, set to run through the 2028-29 NHL season. The deal, with an average annual value of $6,250,000, cements Byfield’s status as a cornerstone player for the Kings.

Byfield, aged 21, showcased his immense talent in the previous season, playing a career-high 80 games and tallying impressive statistics in goals, assists, and points. He was a vital contributor in various aspects of the game, including power-play goals, game-winning goals, and maintaining a commendable plus-minus rating.

During the 2023-24 season, Byfield joined elite company by becoming only the third player in the past two decades to achieve the milestone of scoring 20 goals in a season at 21 or younger for the Kings. His contributions on the ice, especially in critical moments, underline his growing influence within the team.

Standing tall at 6-5 and weighing 225 pounds, Byfield’s physical presence is complemented by his exceptional skill set. His performance last season placed him among the league leaders in assists and points for skaters under 22 years of age, highlighting his potential to become a top-tier player in the NHL.

Notably, Byfield’s journey to professional hockey began with his NHL debut in April 2021, where he quickly displayed his capabilities on the big stage. Since then, he has consistently improved and evolved his game, reaching milestones like scoring in his 100th career game and establishing impressive point streaks.

Prior to his time with the Kings, Byfield honed his skills in junior hockey with the Sudbury Wolves in the Ontario Hockey League, where he earned accolades for his exceptional performance. His success at the junior level translated seamlessly into the professional ranks, solidifying his reputation as a rising star in the NHL.

Internationally, Byfield has represented Canada with distinction, winning medals at prestigious tournaments like the IIHF World Junior Championship and the Hlinka Gretzky Cup. His ability to excel on the global stage further underscores his potential to become a key figure in the hockey world.
