LA Kings Select Liam Greentree in First Round of 2024 NHL Draft
The LA Kings have made their first selection of the 2024 NHL Draft, choosing winger Liam Greentree from the Windsor Spitfires of the OHL. Greentree, a standout forward, was taken with the 26th overall pick at the draft event held at Sphere in Las Vegas.
Coming in at 6-2 and 214 pounds, Greentree hails from Oshawa, ONT, and has garnered attention with his impressive performance in the OHL. He captained the Windsor Spitfires last season, elevating his game to record 90 points on 36 goals and 54 assists, solidifying his position as a top prospect.
Regarded highly by NHL Central Scouting, Greentree’s skills on the ice have earned him recognition as the 14th North American skater in the draft. He brings a blend of size, scoring ability, and leadership, making him a valuable addition to the LA Kings’ roster of prospects.
With an impactful presence on the ice, Greentree’s talent extends beyond the OHL. He showcased his abilities on the international stage, representing Canada at the 2024 IIHF Under-18 World Junior Championship, where he contributed significantly to his team’s gold medal victory.
The Kings’ decision to pick Greentree signifies a strategic move to bolster their offensive lineup. With picks in subsequent rounds of the draft and established prospects in their system, LA is poised to strengthen their roster for the upcoming seasons.
