Knicks’ Historic NBA Finals Streak Continues Through Boston and Dallas Matchup
The New York Knicks may have ended their season in a tough loss to the Indiana Pacers, but their impressive streak of being connected to every NBA Finals from 1947 through 2023 remains alive. This streak is maintained through former, current, or future players who have been associated with the Knicks at some point in their careers.
A Reddit user originally pointed out this phenomenon in 2019 after the Toronto Raptors reached the Finals with Jeremy Lin on their roster. A list of players who were connected to the Knicks during each Finals was compiled, highlighting individuals like Ralph Kaplowitz, Connie Simmons, Sonny Hertzberg, and Slater Martin from the earlier years.
Following that post, players from 2010 to 2019 were also included, and since then, former Knicks have continued to be part of the Finals, including individuals like Kristaps Porzingis, Kornet, Svi Mykhailiuk, and Tim Hardaway Jr, who feature in this year’s Finals matchup between the Boston Celtics and the Dallas Mavericks.
In the upcoming Finals, Porzingis is set to return for Boston after missing games, while Kornet and Mykhailiuk will represent the Celtics. On the other side, Tim Hardaway Jr., who was previously with New York, now plays for Dallas, adding another layer of interest to the Knicks fans rooting against Boston in this championship showdown.
The Celtics and Mavericks are now gearing up for an exciting clash in the Finals, continuing the legacy of Knicks players being part of this historic streak that spans over seven decades.
