Knife Attack at 650th Anniversary Festival in Solingen
Three individuals have tragically lost their lives, and four others are reported to be in serious condition following a knife attack during a festival in the western German city of Solingen. The incident occurred on Friday evening around 9:45 PM local time, prompting a significant response from local law enforcement and emergency services.
The attack took place in the city center, where numerous people had gathered to celebrate the 650th anniversary of Solingen’s founding. Reports indicate that the assailant indiscriminately attacked passers-by in the market square during the event, which was attended by thousands.
Police officials have confirmed that the perpetrator has fled the scene and is currently at large. A manhunt is underway, with helicopters deployed to assist in the search. Local authorities have established security cordons around the area to maintain public safety.
