France’s star forward Kylian Mbappe is set to don a unique protective mask devoid of colours in the crucial match against the Netherlands.
After suffering a fractured nose in the Group D opener against Austria, Mbappe has been sporting a custom-made tricolour mask during training sessions.
However, according to regulations, the mask for matchday must be a single colour, leading Mbappe to switch to compliant single-coloured protectors.
During the narrow 1-0 victory over Austria, Mbappe jokingly requested mask recommendations, showcasing his light-hearted approach to the situation.
France coach Didier Deschamps expressed optimism regarding Mbappe’s availability for the clash, stating that things were progressing well after the incident.
Deschamps highlighted Mbappe’s participation in training activities, indicating a positive trajectory for the forward’s return to the pitch.
The clash against the Netherlands holds significant importance for Les Bleus, with Mbappe’s potential return adding further intrigue to the match.
While it remains uncertain whether Mbappe will start, Deschamps hinted at the forward’s possible involvement, instilling hope in the French camp for his presence.
As the European giants gear up to face off, the absence of Mbappe’s iconic tricolour mask will be noticeable, replaced by a compliant single-coloured version.
