The Las Vegas Raiders made significant changes in their offensive strategy during the bye week, promoting Scott Turner to interim offensive coordinator after parting ways with Luke Getsy. The decision for this reshuffle was made by head coach Antonio Pierce, as the Raiders sought to inject new life into their offensive play after nine games.

Scott Turner, equipped with newfound responsibilities, will be supported by his father, Norv Turner, who joins the Raiders’ staff as an advisor. This marks Norv Turner’s first coaching involvement since 2019, bringing with him decades of experience to aid his son in orchestrating the Raiders’ offensive plans.

While challenges in the running game persist, the Raiders’ revamped offense showed promise, moving the football effectively. During their recent game, the team punted only once and achieved a 57% success rate on third downs, implementing targeted strategies for standout rookie tight end Brock Bowers.

Speaking about the collaboration with his father, Scott Turner remarked, «It was a cool experience. We talked about this last week, I didn’t think we were going to ever coach together again, so this is kind of like a bonus deal. So yeah, I mean I didn’t think about it much at the time other than like I’m getting great information, but when you reflect back on it like that, it was pretty cool.»

Despite the optimism around the new coaching tandem, the Raiders face obstacles, notably the potential absence of their top two running backs in the upcoming match. The team will need to utilize all available resources to secure a victory against their next opponents.
