JD(S) Leader Prajwal Revanna Under Scrutiny Over Alleged Sex Video Scandal

Janata Dal (Secular) MP Prajwal Revanna, grandson of JD(S) chief Deve Gowda, has come under intense scrutiny amid allegations of involvement in a sex video scandal. Revanna, who is also a candidate fielded by the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance, is facing accusations of sexually assaulting numerous women.

The scandal erupted when a pen drive containing pornographic videos reportedly surfaced, revealing disturbing footage allegedly involving Revanna. The Congress has pointed fingers at Revanna, claiming that he recorded objectionable videos of women, sparking outrage within the Karnataka political landscape.

Following these allegations, the State Women’s Commission and the Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah were brought into the fold, with calls for a thorough investigation into Revanna’s conduct. The Karnataka Mahila Dourjanya Virodhi Vedike lodged a formal complaint with the Women’s Commission, citing visuals circulating in the Hassan district that allegedly show Revanna engaging in sexual misconduct with women.

Responding to the growing outcry, the Karnataka government announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to delve into the scandal surrounding Revanna. The SIT aims to probe the obscene videos and determine the veracity of the claims made against the sitting MP.

A case has been registered at the Holenarasipur Police Station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including 354D, 506, and 509, pertaining to crimes against women. The SIT, led by IPS officer Vijay Kumar Singh, will be overseeing the investigations, with seasoned officials like Director General CID Suman D Pennekar and IPS officer Seema Latkar also part of the team.

In response to the allegations, Prajwal Revanna maintained his innocence, filing a complaint asserting that the videos are morphed and intended to damage his reputation. Meanwhile, former Karnataka Chief Minister and JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy assured that due process would be followed, with the SIT working diligently to unearth the truth.

As the controversy escalates, the BJP distanced itself from Revanna, emphasizing that the party has no connections to the scandal or the ongoing SIT investigation. Despite reports suggesting that Revanna has left the country amidst the turmoil, the investigations spearheaded by the SIT continue unabated, aiming to bring clarity to the situation.
