Legal Settlement Reached in $75,000 Loan Dispute Between Janssen and Beador
Legal representatives of Janssen have confirmed that a settlement has been reached in a legal dispute involving a loan sum of $75,000 that he allegedly gave to Beador during their relationship. This agreement comes approximately seven months after Janssen filed a lawsuit demanding repayment. Documents obtained by PEOPLE, dated November 15, have been labeled as a ‘Notice of Settlement of Entire Case.’
According to these filings, Janssen and Beador have made arrangements for an unconditional dismissal of the case, which is expected to be filed within 45 days. This development follows a previous request for a jury trial made by both parties on November 7, as stated in official court documents accessed by PEOPLE at that time.
In a statement to PEOPLE, Beador’s attorney, Dave Beitchman, remarked on the settlement, saying, «Shannon made an incredibly smart emotional and financial decision in deciding to settle this case. While she was certainly prepared to fight for the truth, I congratulate her in taking the high road and putting this matter behind her.» The lawyer highlighted that litigating the matter might have been more costly than the amount at stake.
The specifics of the settlement remain undisclosed; however, details of the case have been prominently discussed on the latest season of ‘The Real Housewives of Orange County.’ During the season 18 reunion, aired in early November, Beador mentioned that she proposed a repayment of $70,000 to Janssen, conditional on signing a mutual non-disparagement agreement, which he reportedly declined.
Beador’s offer and the subsequent refusal were due to public concerns and Janssen’s need to address the issue, as mentioned by another cast member engaged to Janssen this season. The dispute arose from varying perceptions of the $75,000’s purpose, initially described by Beador as a gift rather than a loan.
Questions intensified after it was revealed that Beador had acknowledged the existence of a promissory note days after receiving the funds. This was confirmed in a discussion during a cast dinner and further supported by Janssen, who cited emails from Beador admitting the transaction was a loan.
Janssen commented on his reluctance to initiate legal proceedings, expressing, «I didn’t want to take legal action, but my hands were tied as I was days away from crossing the statute of limitations… Shannon sent me an email admitting it was a loan.» He further asserted that previous claims about the funds being gifts were inaccurate.
‘The Real Housewives of Orange County’ continues to air Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo, where the complexities of this legal case were featured this season.
