Renowned Australian actor Brian Wenzel has sadly passed away at the age of 94, leaving behind a legacy that has touched the hearts of many.

The Logie winner, celebrated for his portrayal of Frank Gilroy in the iconic series A Country Practice, breathed his last in a nursing home just weeks shy of his 95th birthday on May 24.

Expressing profound sorrow, his agent Jennifer Hennessy stated, «It is with great sadness that we remember the life of beloved Australian actor Brian Wenzel.»

Known for his wit and humor that transcended generations, Wenzel’s performances have left an indelible mark on the Australian film and television industry.

Commencing his acting journey at 17, his notable roles include Mr Cox in Nine’s The Young Doctors.

Wenzel’s portrayal of Frank Gilroy in A Country Practice spanned over a remarkable 12 years, earning him a prestigious Silver Logie Award for Best Actor in 1981.

With a career that epitomized dedication and talent, the actor’s personal life was equally rich, sharing 67 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Linda Wenzel.

While the entertainment industry mourns the loss of a true icon, Wenzel’s fondness for Carlton and his endearing on-screen presence will forever be cherished by fans and colleagues alike.
