Leicester City Turns To Steve Cooper As Talks With Graham Potter Stall

Leicester City‘s search for a new manager takes a turn as negotiations with Graham Potter come to a halt, shifting focus to Steve Cooper.

Potter, the former Brighton and Chelsea boss, seemed set to succeed Enzo Maresca after positive talks, only for discussions to break down at a critical juncture.

The Foxes are now deep in discussions with Cooper, who has been available since his stint at Nottingham Forest.

Cooper, the 44-year-old with promotion experience with Forest, is expected to seal the deal, according to sources.

The club’s financial woes pose a challenge, and they could kick off the new season with a points deduction.

Should talks with Cooper collapse, West Brom‘s Carlos Corberán might emerge as the next target for the Leicester City hot seat.

Potter, who declined several opportunities post-Chelsea, could aim for the England job if Southgate vacates after Euro 2024.

The Foxes have reportedly finalized terms with Cooper, who has been jobless since his Forest exit last December.

Cooper previously managed England’s U16 and U17 teams, securing the U17 World Cup in 2017.

Leicester great Emile Heskey states the importance of staying in the Premier League, advocating for keeper’s continuity of Maresca’s football ethos.

Heskey highlights the significance of retention, especially mentioning the likes of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jamie Vardy.

The Foxes’ priority, as per Heskey, should be securing their Premier League status and then strategically rebuilding the squad.
