Leonardo DiCaprio Praises Kate Winslet at Los Angeles Screening of Her Film ‘Lee’
At a recent special screening of the film Lee in Los Angeles, actor Leonardo DiCaprio expressed high admiration for his longtime friend and collaborator, Kate Winslet. The event, held at the Harmony Gold theater on November 19, 2024, celebrated Winslet’s latest project, a film depicting the life of American photojournalist Lee Miller.
DiCaprio, who has maintained a close friendship with Winslet since they starred together in the 1997 blockbuster Titanic, introduced her film by describing Winslet as «one of the great talents of my generation.» In a video shared on X, DiCaprio can be seen expressing his continued admiration for Winslet’s talents, saying, «Kate, my dear friend, your work in this film has been nothing short of transformative.» He further praised her strength, integrity, and passion in the video.
The two actors, who famously portrayed star-crossed lovers in Titanic, shared a friendly moment on stage that included a kiss, further illustrating the bond they have shared for nearly 30 years. Winslet, 49, and DiCaprio, who recently celebrated his birthday on November 11, posed for photographs at the event, smiling with their arms around each other.
While Titanic remains a significant cultural touchstone, Winslet and DiCaprio have both continued to succeed in their careers since the film’s release. Despite having revisited their on-screen chemistry in 2008’s Revolutionary Road, their affiliation with Titanic remains strong, as questions about the film recur frequently in interviews.
In conversation on the Australian talk show The Project, Winslet humorously anticipated questions about the infamous «door» scene from Titanic, where many believe DiCaprio’s character could also have survived.
Lee, now showing in theaters and available on digital platforms, features Winslet not only as the lead actress but also as a producer. During the production, she incidentally reunited with actor and musician Jonathan Evans-Jones, who arranged musical sessions for the film’s score and previously appeared in Titanic.
