The B.C. Lions are not having a good time lately, and their latest game against the Edmonton Elks didn’t help at all. The Lions lost 33-16, marking their third straight loss. This is a tough pill to swallow for a team that started the season strong.

With Vernon Adams Jr. out due to injury, Jake Dolegala had to step in as quarterback. Although he showed some promise, B.C.’s offense struggled, managing only three touchdowns in the last three games. After looking like Grey Cup contenders earlier this season, they now find themselves needing to watch their backs as both Calgary and Winnipeg are climbing up the standings.

The game began with a decent start for the Lions, with Dolegala leading them to an early touchdown. However, things quickly went downhill from there. They managed to get a lead of 7-0 after a strong drive, but that would be their only trip to the end zone for the entire game.

As the match progressed, the Elks found their rhythm, and B.C.’s defense struggled to keep them in check. The Elks capitalized on some penalties and converted crucial downs, which allowed them to dominate the game despite some key players being injured.

Dolegala, reflecting on the game, mentioned how the team needs to execute better to help the defense and convert more second downs. He noted that while scoring field goals is nice, getting touchdowns is what counts. The Lions’ offense wasn’t able to maintain its momentum, mainly due to missed opportunities and dropped passes by wide receivers.

Defensively, the Lions encountered problems too. The Elks quickly exploited any weaknesses, especially on the ground, with their running backs making significant gains. Overall, it was a game where B.C. seemed to miss their chance to bounce back.
