Liverpool Targets Federico Chiesa in Late Transfer Window Move
Liverpool Football Club is reportedly exploring a potential transfer for Italian winger Federico Chiesa from Juventus as the summer transfer window draws to a close. With the deadline approaching, Liverpool is keen to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming season.
Currently, the team has not made any signings since the window opened, although they are expected to complete the acquisition of goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili soon. This deal is set to be announced shortly, marking Liverpool’s first summer signing.
Manager Arne Slot has expressed satisfaction with his current roster. However, recent reports indicate that Liverpool has initiated contact with Juventus regarding Chiesa, who is said to be interested in a move to the Premier League.
Chiesa, 26, is facing an uncertain future at Juventus under the management of Thiago Motta, as he no longer fits into the club’s plans. Juventus is open to selling him, especially as he is in the final year of his contract, and the Italian side is anticipating a swift resolution regarding his transfer.
Despite a decrease in his market value since the 2020 Euros, Chiesa remains a viable addition to Liverpool’s attacking options, which currently include prominent players such as Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez. Last season, Chiesa contributed ten goals across all competitions.
As Liverpool explores the terms for a potential deal, it is understood that Juventus would be willing to let Chiesa go for a fee in the region of €15 million, considering his situation. Furthermore, Chiesa’s desire to play Champions League football may further influence his decision to join Liverpool.
