Louie Hinchliffe Dreams of Olympic Gold in Paris
Louie Hinchliffe is on a mission to make his Olympic dreams come true as he heads to Paris 2024. The British sprinter is gearing up to compete in the men’s 100 metres and the men’s 4x100m relay, ready to showcase his talent on the world stage.
This year has been nothing short of a rollercoaster for Hinchliffe. A talented golfer with a single-digit handicap, he made the bold decision to switch to athletics just a few years ago, always keeping his passion for sprinting alive.
Things really started to take off when he teamed up with legendary American sprinter, Carl Lewis. With Lewis’s guidance, Hinchliffe’s progress in athletics has skyrocketed.
In June, Hinchliffe recorded an impressive 9.95 seconds in the 100m at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Oregon. That time ranks as the sixth-fastest in British history!
Later that month, he secured his spot at the Paris Olympics by snagging a gold medal at the Team GB Olympic Trials during the UK Athletics Championships in Manchester.
Feeling ecstatic after qualifying, Hinchliffe shared, “It means everything to be going to Paris – I have dreamed about the Olympics since I was a kid. I will go with the attitude that I can win.” He added that he seems to thrive under pressure, which bodes well for his upcoming races.
This year marks the first time Hinchliffe has truly committed to athletics, focusing entirely on training, nutrition, and rest.
As he heads into the competition, he will be running alongside tough opponents, including athletes from the USA and defending Olympic champion from Italy. His primary goal is to reach the men’s 100m final on August 4, followed by the men’s 4x100m relay final back at the Stade de France five days later.
