Dallas Mavericks star player Luka Doncic has been given the green light to compete in Game 2 of the NBA Finals despite battling various injuries, confirmed by coach Jason Kidd.
Doncic was initially marked as probable in the morning due to a sprained right knee and left ankle soreness. However, by the afternoon, he was downgraded to questionable, with a new addition of a bruised chest to his injury list.
After completing his pregame warmup routine successfully about an hour and a half before the game, Doncic was cleared to take the court.
Kidd mentioned that Doncic possibly suffered the chest injury while hustling for a loose ball or taking a charge during the previous game.
In the opening game of the series, Doncic showcased his versatility with a strong performance, leading the Mavericks with 30 points and 10 rebounds in a 107-89 defeat.
If Doncic had been unable to play, Kidd expressed readiness to adjust the team’s strategy accordingly, emphasizing a ‘next man up’ approach.
The Mavericks coach reiterated that if Doncic was fit to play, the team’s game plan would remain unchanged. Kidd highlighted the team’s consistent adaptability throughout the playoffs, affirming their readiness to handle any situation.
