Luka Doncic Returns to Lineup, Ends Four-Game Losing Streak for Mavericks
Luka Doncic, the star guard for the Dallas Mavericks, returned to play on Tuesday night during their NBA Cup game. Doncic had missed the previous game due to an unspecified absence. The matchup took place against the leading team in the Western Conference.
The Mavericks appear to be recovering from a recent four-game losing streak. This streak was followed by two consecutive victories. The second of these victories was marked by Doncic’s return to the lineup. Surprisingly, it was also the first game Doncic has missed this season, highlighting his consistent presence on the court.
In his last game before his absence, played on the previous Saturday, Doncic logged only 28 minutes, marking his least time on the court this season. He managed to score 16 points in that game, which slightly exceeded his season-low score. He watched from the bench during the final eight minutes as the Mavericks maintained a comfortable lead over their opponents.
Despite a dip in his season averages compared to last season, Doncic remains a formidable presence in the league. Last season, Doncic secured the NBA scoring title, averaging an impressive 33.9 points per game, alongside 9.2 rebounds and 9.8 assists. This season, his averages have slightly declined to 28.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per game.
Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd commented on Doncic’s performance this season, acknowledging the slight drop in his statistics. «He has shown that he’s human,» Kidd stated. «[Averages of] 28, eight and eight — you sign up for that all day long.»
