Manchester United Ceo Omar Berrada

Manchester United‘s chief executive, Omar Berrada, has expressed unwavering confidence in Erik ten Hag, affirming that he has the full support of the club. Despite recent challenges, including a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Liverpool, Berrada insists that Ten Hag remains the right person to lead the team forward.

This season, United has started on a difficult note, recording two losses in their opening three Premier League matches. Nonetheless, Berrada stated, ‘Do we still believe in Erik? Absolutely. We think Erik is the right coach for us and we’re fully backing him.’

Ten Hag’s contract was extended this summer prior to Berrada’s and sporting director Dan Ashworth’s arrivals at the club. Both officials have expressed satisfaction with the decision, stating their intent to support Ten Hag fully in various operational aspects, including recruitment and training.

During his initial weeks at the club, Ashworth focused significantly on the transfer window, where Manchester United made several signings, including Matthijs De Ligt and Manuel Ugarte, while allowing players like Scott McTominay and Jadon Sancho to depart.

Scott McTominay’s transfer to Napoli marked a significant change, as he ended a long association with Manchester United that began in his youth. Ashworth noted that players’ desires for new opportunities were respected in these decisions.

Reflecting on the team’s current strategy and support structures, Ashworth emphasized the commitment to aid Ten Hag in achieving success with Manchester United as they navigate through a rocky start to the season.
