Manchester United fans took to social media to mock their own team after a perplexing video clip from the club’s first pre-season friendly against Rosenborg emerged on Monday evening.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer kicked off his third year as the United manager in Norway as his squad visited the Lerkendal Stadion to commence their pre-season warmup.

Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire, Paul Pogba, and Jesse Lingard all featured in the match as they returned to training, gearing up for a rigorous pre-season after some being away on international duty.

Following the Norway trip, United will fly back to Manchester briefly before heading to Scotland to face QPR in another friendly encounter, and then journey to the United States for further preparations.

Rashford, who struggled last season with just eight goals in total, missed out on England‘s Euro squad and is working hard to regain his form for the upcoming season.

A snippet posted by the club’s official account showcased Rashford controlling a ball on his chest, evading one opponent before losing possession and the ball going out for a throw-in.

United’s caption read, ‘Nicely done, @marcusrashford,’ accompanied by a celebratory emoji, but fans were quick to criticize the play in the video.

One fan tweeted, ‘He has gone past one player and lost the ball. The standards have never been lower at the football club as they currently are. Sad to see.’

Another reacted, ‘What has he done? For a senior player that’s some horrible final product.’

Despite ongoing speculation over Rashford’s future amid European interest, the academy product has four years left on his contract, which runs until 2028.
