Manchester United Finalizes Deal for Manuel Ugarte from PSG
Manchester United has reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for the transfer of midfielder Manuel Ugarte. United will pay an initial fee of £42.2 million, which could increase to £50.7 million with performance-related add-ons.
The club had been pursuing Ugarte as their primary midfield target throughout the transfer window. The player is expected to arrive in the UK on Tuesday to undergo a medical examination and finalize personal terms with Manchester United.
PSG initially sought a fee of £51.1 million, the amount they paid to Sporting Lisbon for Ugarte last summer. However, both clubs have come to a compromise to facilitate the deal.
Ugarte is set to join Manchester United just a year after his transfer to PSG, where he made 37 appearances last season.
The Uruguayan midfielder, known for his defensive capabilities, led Ligue 1 in tackles last season, despite starting in only 21 matches.
Additionally, Manchester United’s Scott McTominay is reportedly close to completing a transfer to Napoli for an agreed fee of £25.4 million. Personal terms have been resolved, and he is expected to undergo a medical in Italy soon.
McTominay’s departure presents an opportunity for Ugarte as the team seeks to reinforce its midfield ahead of the new season, and his transfer illustrates United’s strategic financial planning.
