Mario Lopez to be Honored at Hollywood Christmas Parade
Entertainment show host Mario Lopez is set to receive the Humanitarian Award during the 92nd annual Hollywood Christmas Parade, according to event organizers. The parade will take place on December 1 through the streets of Hollywood, commencing at 6 p.m.
Lopez, who hails from Chula Vista, will participate in the parade alongside his wife, actress and television personality Courtney Lopez, and their children. Jeremy Renner has been appointed as the grand marshal for this year’s event.
In addition to his role as the host of NBC‘s «Access Hollywood» and «Access Daily,» Lopez serves as the host for the national iHeart programs «On with Mario & Courtney Lopez» and «iHeartRadio Countdown with Mario Lopez.» Beyond his work in entertainment, Lopez supports several non-profit organizations, including the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Wounded Warriors, Best Friends Animal Rescue, and Providence Hospital.
Lopez recently founded the Mario Lopez Family Foundation, a nonprofit aimed at empowering youth through education, healthy lifestyles, and community support. «Education opens doors, and a healthy lifestyle lays the groundwork for success in every area of life,» Lopez remarked. «I was fortunate to have family, mentors, and opportunities that kept me on the right path, and I want to make sure every child has access to the same chances to dream big and achieve their goals.»
His newest film, «Once Upon a Christmas Wish,» is scheduled to debut on December 7 on the Great American Family Channel. Meanwhile, the Hollywood Christmas Parade will be broadcast on the CW Network on December 14.
The parade, a staple of the holiday season, is supported by Marine Toys for Tots and includes an annual appearance by Santa Claus. Dean Cain, Laura McKenzie, Montel Williams, and Elizabeth Stanton will host the event. It will feature a variety of attractions including movie cars, award-winning bands, equestrians, character balloons, colorful floats, and humorous specialty acts.
The parade’s history is rich, originally known as the Santa Claus Lane Parade. It was during the 1946 parade that performer Gene Autry, famously known as The Singing Cowboy, was inspired to write the classic holiday song «Here Comes Santa Claus (Right Down Santa Claus Lane).»
