Marvel Studios Rumored to Greenlight ‘Hawkeye’ Season 2
Marvel Studios is reportedly advancing with the development of a second season for its acclaimed streaming series «Hawkeye.» Initially released on Disney+ in 2021, the series featured Jeremy Renner reprising his role as Clint Barton, alongside Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop. The series quickly garnered positive reviews, achieving a 92% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and becoming one of Marvel Studios’ most praised streaming offerings.
Amid a wave of fan enthusiasm and favorable critical reception, rumors have circulated regarding a second installment. As per sources cited by insider Daniel Richtman, «Hawkeye» Season 2 is on the horizon, although Marvel Studios has yet to officially greenlight the project. Current reports indicate that production may commence in the fall of 2025, with a prospective release window aiming for late 2026 or 2027.
A Season 2 would see the return of Renner, who has not appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since «Hawkeye’s» inaugural season. This anticipated season could potentially explore further developments in Kate Bishop’s narrative arc, particularly as she carves out a larger role within the MCU’s expanding landscape, possibly aligning with the Young Avengers. Speculation also hints at the storyline drawing inspiration from the 2011 action thriller «The Raid,» with Barton and Bishop facing challenges in confined settings.
The potential timeline for the new episodes places the series strategically between major upcoming MCU films «Avengers: Doomsday» and «Avengers: Secret Wars,» scheduled for May 2026 and May 2027, respectively. Such timing raises questions about the series’ integration with the broader universe events, particularly considering its street-level heroes amidst the grander scale of the Multiverse Saga.
Although the full cast of characters is not confirmed, it is anticipated that key players from the first season, including Tony Dalton’s portrayal of Jack Duquesne, may reappear given his character’s popularity. The series may also further establish Kate Bishop through interactions with other characters, such as Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan, setting the stage for the Young Avengers.
«Hawkeye» Season 1 is now available for streaming on Disney+, promising a continuation of action and character development should Season 2 come to fruition.
