Maryland Lottery Participant Advances in NASCAR Powerball Playoff
The Maryland Lottery has announced that Christopher Goggins from Greenbelt is one of the 16 finalists selected for the 2024 NASCAR Powerball Playoff. This exciting event offers players across the nation the chance to win a VIP experience at the NASCAR Championship Weekend in Phoenix, Arizona, and the chance to win a grand prize of $1 million.
The announcement was made during the Cook Out Southern 500 broadcast at Darlington Raceway on September 1. Goggins is among players who entered the competition through state lotteries, including the Maryland Lottery, which has joined this promotion for the first time this year.
This year’s promotion involved a series of in-state contests and second-chance drawings across 27 participating state lotteries during the NASCAR regular season. The 16 finalists were randomly selected from a national pool in a preliminary drawing held on August 13.
The selected players will advance to a series of elimination rounds, resembling the structure of the NASCAR Playoffs. The final four players remaining will receive a VIP trip to the NASCAR Championship Weekend from November 8-10, where they will also compete for the $1 million prize.
The upcoming Round of 12 will be determined during the Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway on September 21, where the four players eliminated will each receive $2,500.
