The Buffalo Bills have hit a rough patch as star linebacker Matt Milano is set to be out indefinitely due to a torn bicep. Coach Sean McDermott confirmed the news during a press conference on Thursday.

Milano, who is 30 years old, got injured during a tackle drill in practice earlier this week. It was just a routine drill, but something went wrong when he hit his arm against a bag.

“It’s an unfortunate situation,” McDermott said. “Matt has a good family supporting him, as well as teammates and the entire coaching staff.”

This injury is particularly tough for Milano, who had just worked hard to recover from a leg injury he suffered last season. He was hoping to have a fresh start this year, but now his journey has hit another bump.

McDermott expressed that he believes in Milano’s resilience, stating, “When you know the person, you know this is not going to beat or keep Matt down.” The coach also mentioned how Milano stayed in Buffalo all summer to rehab his leg.

With Milano out, the Bills will rely on second-year linebacker Dorian Williams to step up. Williams had a promising rookie season, recording 40 tackles in 17 games.

“Dorian is going to do a good job, he’s been making progress,” McDermott noted. He emphasized that it’s not just one person’s job to fill Milano’s role, but the whole team needs to step up.

The Bills are currently in Pittsburgh, practicing alongside the Steelers as they prepare for the upcoming season.
