Mbeumo and Wissa, two stars of Brentford FC, are making waves not just with their skills on the field but also with their unique friendship off the pitch. Last season, they were involved in 30 league goals together and have both kicked off this term with a goal already, showcasing their chemistry during games.

After a recent match against Crystal Palace, where both players scored, Wissa shared insights into their close bond. He said, “We just want to have a good journey together. We have a similar mindset: a football career is short and we just want to enjoy every minute.”

Even during tough times, Wissa emphasized the importance of encouraging each other and finding joy in their football journey. «But he is jealous of me sometimes… about everything! This morning, he came to me and said, ‘Oh your sliders are nice, I want the same!’” he joked.

Both players come from similar backgrounds, with Wissa representing DR Congo and Mbeumo representing Cameroon. This shared experience helps them enjoy their careers even more. “Bryan is more than my team-mate, he’s my friend now. That’s the thing,” Wissa added.

Mbeumo, affectionately called ‘Uncle Bryan’ by Wissa’s children, echoed these sentiments. «We are both happy all the time – or at least most of the time! We always want to make jokes and do silly things together,” he said.

Living just one house down from each other, Mbeumo joked about how Wissa always wants to be nearby. Their friendship enhances their communication on the field as well. “We discuss what could have been better, how we can progress, and how to avoid any mistakes,” he noted.
