Mega Millions Jackpot Grows to $740 Million After No Winner
The winning numbers for the Tuesday, September 3 Mega Millions drawing have been announced, and no one has won the jackpot, which has now grown to an estimated $740 million.
The numbers drawn were 12, 41, 43, 52, and 55, with the Mega Ball being 9. While the jackpot remains unclaimed, two tickets sold in Michigan and Kansas matched the five white balls, each winning a prize of $1 million.
The next drawing will take place on Friday, September 6, at 11 p.m. Drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday. In Michigan, players can purchase tickets in-store and online until 10:45 p.m. on drawing nights.
Mega Millions tickets cost $2. An additional feature called the Megaplier, which increases non-jackpot prizes, can be added for an extra $1 per play. The Megaplier can multiply prizes by two, three, four, or five times.
The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot, by matching all five white balls plus the Mega Ball, stand at 1 in 302,575,350. Players have the choice of receiving their winnings as an annuity, paid out in annual installments, or as a lump-sum cash payment.
The annuity option consists of one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments, each increasing by 5%. This structure aims to safeguard winners’ purchasing power during periods of inflation.
