Mega Millions Jackpot Rises as No Winner Emerges
The Mega Millions lottery jackpot continues to grow after no single ticket matched all winning numbers for the recent draw. The jackpot, now standing at an estimated $420 million with a cash option of $191.7 million, has seen significant interest as no one clinched the prize on Tuesday night.
According to official reports, the winning numbers for Tuesday’s drawing were 5, 35, 50, 51, 59, and the Mega Ball was 8. The Megaplier for that draw was 4x. Despite no jackpot winner, two tickets, one purchased in Missouri and another in New York, managed to match all five numbers except for the Mega Ball, earning their holders $1 million each.
The Mega Millions, alongside Powerball, serves as one of the top lottery games in the United States, drawing substantial public participation with its tantalizing jackpots. Drawings for the Mega Millions are held twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays at approximately 11 p.m. ET. Each ticket costs $2, with an optional Megaplier available for an additional $1, potentially multiplying non-jackpot prizes.
Upcoming draws only promise further increase in jackpot value, given the absence of a total match. For those participating, matching even one number could bring minor winnings, specifically when the Mega Ball is one of the matched numbers, with a payout of $2. A ticket matching one number plus the Mega Ball increases the winnings to $4.
This surge in the Mega Millions jackpot follows a similar pattern seen in the past, where the game’s jackpots have reached astronomical figures. Previous noteworthy jackpots include a record $1.58 billion won in Florida on August 8, 2023, and a $1.537 billion jackpot won on October 23, 2018, in South Carolina. The largest Powerball jackpot recorded was $2.04 billion on November 7, 2022, in California.
