Mexican actress and fitness influencer Barbara de Regil has faced online backlash after conducting a vigorous workout routine during a long-haul flight. Passengers and viewers online expressed dissatisfaction with her mid-air exercise session, which included jogging in place and performing squats in the airplane aisle.

De Regil, known for her roles in Latin American telenovelas such as «Lalola» and «Rosario Tijeras,» was traveling with her husband, Fernando Schoenwald. Reportedly, the decision to exercise on the flight stemmed from the extended duration of travel, which lasted nearly 35 hours in total. The actress explained her actions by stating, «I’m feeling crazy after nearly 35 hours in the air on planes.»

The social media celebrity’s behavior was documented in footage shared online, capturing her running on the spot and engaging in an intensive full-body workout while dressed in pajamas. Her husband remained seated, scrolling through his phone, as she carried out her fitness routine.

Online commentators were quick to criticize the public workout. «Planes don’t have showers, she must stink,» one user noted, while another remarked, «This ridiculous lady has already won the Idiot of the Year award.» Detractors also suggested that de Regil might have a compulsive need to exercise.

In response to the criticism, de Regil defended her actions, citing health reasons for her in-flight activity. She emphasized her need to prevent blood clots and acknowledged her inability to remain seated for prolonged periods. «Those movements that you see, hahaha, are to avoid thrombosis and, above all, I don’t know about you, but I can’t sit for that long,» she said.
