The Michigan Wolverines secured a decisive 94-67 victory over the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks in the opening round of the Fort Myers Tip-Off tournament held at the Crisler Center on Monday night. The win was bolstered by standout performances from Nimari Burnett, who scored a season-high 18 points, and Tre Donaldson, an Auburn transfer who equaled his career high with 16 points.
Under the guidance of new head coach Dusty May, Michigan improved their record to 3-1 overall and an undefeated 3-0 at home. The Wolverines held a narrow 44-36 lead at halftime but initiated the second half with an 8-0 run that set the tone for their dominant finish. In addition to Burnett and Donaldson’s contributions, L.J. Cason added 11 points, and Roddy Gayle Jr. chipped in with 10 points and five assists. Danny Wolf narrowly missed a double-double, contributing nine points and nine rebounds.
