Mike Trout to Undergo Knee Surgery, Expected to Miss Time
Los Angeles Angels‘ superstar Mike Trout is set to undergo surgery for a torn meniscus in his left knee, as confirmed by Angels general manager Perry Minasian on Tuesday.
The surgery is not anticipated to be season-ending, though no specific timeline for Trout’s return was immediately provided by the team’s GM.
Trout, 32, had been enjoying a strong start to the season with a .220/.325/.541 line and 10 home runs, tying him with Gunnar Henderson for the most in the Majors at the time of his injury.
The perennial All-Star has also been more active on the base paths this season, already matching his stolen base total from the last four years combined with six steals.
Unfortunately, injuries have plagued Trout in recent years, limiting his playing time significantly. He played just 82 games last year due to a calf injury and 36 games in 2021 due to a back ailment.
The Angels, currently with an 11-18 record, find themselves in fourth place in the AL West standings, just ahead of the struggling Astros who are 9-19 for the season.
