Missouri Tigers Gear Up for Final Road Contest Against Mississippi State
The Missouri Tigers are preparing to head to Starkville, Mississippi, on Saturday to face the Mississippi State Bulldogs in their penultimate game of the regular season. This will be Missouri’s final true road game, where they currently hold a 0-3 record against Southeastern Conference (SEC) opponents this year.
Despite achieving a respectable 7-3 overall standing and a 3-3 record within the SEC, Missouri remains ranked at No. 23 in the latest College Football Playoff committee rankings. Nonetheless, the team is no longer in contention for the playoffs and is instead vying for an advantageous bowl position. If Missouri, under head coach Eli Drinkwitz, wins its remaining games including a to-be-determined bowl game, it could mark double-digit-win seasons in consecutive years for only the third time in the school’s history.
Quarterback Brady Cook, initially listed as unavailable, is expected to play after being removed from the team’s Friday night availability report. Meanwhile, Mississippi State, carrying a 2-8 overall and 0-6 SEC record, is closing a challenging season with freshman Michael Van Buren starting as quarterback due to an early-season injury to starter Blake Shapen.
Mississippi State has struggled defensively throughout the season, allowing at least 30 points in every game against Power-conference opponents. The game against Missouri will be aired on the SEC Network, with Taylor Zarzour providing play-by-play commentary, Matt Stinchcomb serving as the analyst, and Alyssa Lang reporting from the sidelines. FUBO is set to stream the matchup.
The game can be listened to locally on 1580 AM and 105.1 FM, as well as on satellite radio at Sirius XM 374, with the Tiger Radio Network broadcasting the game live. Mike Kelly will provide play-by-play updates, with Howard Richards offering analysis and Chris Gervino reporting from the sidelines.
The matchup is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. CDT on Saturday, November 23, at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville. Weather forecasts predict a sunny 60 degrees at kickoff with temperatures expected to decrease below 50 degrees by the end of the game. There is no rain expected.
Missouri is currently favored to win by 7.5 points according to BetMGM‘s betting odds, with an over-under points spread of 56.5. As the Tigers look to close their regular-season road games on a high note, the stakes remain significant for both teams depending on their respective standings and upcoming bowl season opportunities.
