In a tragic turn of events, Autumn Crittendon, who was widely known for her appearance on MTV‘s reality show ‘16 and Pregnant‘, has passed away at just 27 years old. Crittendon, also known by her married name Autumn Oxley, was discovered unresponsive at her home in Henrico, Virginia, on Saturday, July 20, 2024.

The Henrico County Police Department received a call about a medical emergency at approximately 3:12 p.m. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found Autumn unresponsive and immediately attempted to revive her. Despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead on site.

Authorities have now classified the incident as a death investigation and are working alongside the medical examiner to determine the exact cause and manner of her death. Details surrounding the circumstances leading to her passing remain unclear as the investigation continues.

Autumn gained public attention in 2014 when she appeared on the popular television series ’16 and Pregnant’. The show chronicled her pregnancy and the birth of her eldest son, Drake, with her then-boyfriend Dustin Franklin. Since her appearance, she had welcomed two more children into her family, including a daughter named Abigail and another son named Luke.

Many remember Autumn not only for her journey on the show but for how relatable she was to audiences. Her story resonated with fans who followed her experiences as a young mother navigating the challenges of parenthood.

Her death is particularly poignant given that several other cast members from the show have also tragically passed away in recent years. Valerie Fairman, who was on Season 2, died in 2016 at the age of 23 from a drug overdose. Similarly, Jordan Cashmyer, who participated in the show in 2014, succumbed to intoxication from fentanyl and cocaine.

The reality television realm has not been kind to its stars, as evidenced by the increasing number of tragic news surrounding ’16 and Pregnant’ alumni. Sean Grainger, who appeared in Season 6B as the father of Selena Gutierrez’s baby, passed away recently at just 20 years old.

Additionally, several other cast members have experienced significant hardships since appearing on the show. For example, Derek Underwood, the father of Farrah Abraham’s baby, died in a car crash back in 2008, just prior to the birth of their child.

The news of Autumn’s passing sent shockwaves through social media, with many fans and former cast members expressing their condolences and sorrow over the tragic loss. Her sister, Misty, announced the news of her death on Facebook but has since removed the post from her profile.

On social media, users began sharing heartfelt messages and memories of Autumn, using the hashtag #justiceforautumn. It’s clear that her story impacted many, and her legacy as a young mother striving to provide for her children will not be forgotten.

As the investigation continues, Henrico County Police have urged anyone with information about Autumn’s death to come forward. They are actively seeking input from the community as they look to clarify the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking incident.

MTV has yet to release an official statement regarding Autumn’s death, but it’s expected that many who have followed her journey on ’16 and Pregnant’ will be seeking answers and expressing their condolences on various platforms.

Reflecting on her life, Autumn Crittendon will be remembered as a dedicated mother who faced numerous challenges but never lost her determination. The reality of her life story, shared through the lens of a television show, highlighted both the struggles and joys of becoming a young parent.
