Multichoice Reverts Dstv, Gotv Subscription Fees Following Court Order

MultiChoice, the owner of DStv and GOtv, has reverted to its previous subscription prices following a court order from the Competition and Consumer Protection Tribunal in Abuja, Nigeria.

The court order came after MultiChoice had increased its subscription fees, resulting in a loss of over a million subscribers in Nigeria. The company had raised prices citing high inflation and the devaluation of the naira, but the court ruled the hike unjustified.

The old subscription prices have now been restored for both DStv and GOtv packages. DStv Premium package now costs N29,500, down from N37,000. The DStv Compact+ package is priced at N19,800, down from N25,000. The DStv Compact Bouquet costs N12,500, down from N15,700. The DStv Confam package is now N7,400, down from N9,300. The DStv Yanga package costs N4,200, down from N5,100. The DStv Padi package is now priced at N2,950, down from N3,600.

GOtv subscribers will also see a reduction in prices: GOtv Super+ package is priced at N12,500, down from N15,700; GOtv Super package costs N7,600, down from N9,600; GOtv Max package retains its price at N5,700; GOtv Joli package is priced at N3,950; and the GOtv Jinja package now costs N2,700, down from N3,300.

MultiChoice has not yet indicated whether they will provide a month-free subscription as ordered by the court. The company has expressed its intention to challenge the court order, stating that the ruling does not align with its business model.
