Mumbai Cricket Association President Amol Kale Passes Away in New York

Mumbai Cricket Association President, Amol Kale, tragically passed away due to a sudden cardiac arrest while in New York, as reported by PTI on Monday. The news emerged following his attendance at the intense India vs Pakistan match during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, where India secured a victory over Pakistan by a close margin of 6 runs.

Kale was joined by fellow MCA office bearers such as MCA Secretary Ajinkya Naik and Apex Council Member Suraj Samat at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium to witness the match unfold live.

Dr. Jitendra Awhad, a Nationalist Congress Party leader, expressed his deep sorrow upon hearing the news of Amol Kale’s untimely demise. He praised Kale as a skilled organizer and ardent cricket enthusiast, emphasizing the significant loss that his passing has brought.

Elected as the MCA President in 2022 after a closely contested election against former World Cup champion Sandeep Patil, Kale was known for his close affiliation with Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis. Hailing from Nagpur, Kale had established himself in Mumbai and was actively involved in various business ventures.

Besides his involvement in cricket administration, Kale was also a co-promoter of the Indian Street Premier League, a cricket league introduced earlier this year featuring matches with tennis balls.

Under Kale’s leadership, Mumbai’s domestic cricket scene witnessed considerable success, culminating in the team’s triumph in the Ranji Trophy 2023-24. Additionally, Kale played a pivotal role in the successful organization of the World Cup 2023 fixtures at Mumbai’s renowned Wankhede Stadium.
