Musk Blames Cyber Attack During Trump Interview
Elon Musk recently claimed that a massive cyber attack was responsible for the technical difficulties during his scheduled chat with former President Donald Trump on the social media platform X, previously known as Twitter.
The interview, which was set to start at 10am AEST, faced issues, leaving some users unable to access the platform. Musk reported that while over 214,000 people managed to join, many others saw a message stating the page was ‘not available.’
Shortly before the conversation, Musk hinted at the problems by saying there appeared to be a significant distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attack impacting X. He mentioned he was working on resolving the situation and even stated, ‘Worst case, we will proceed with a smaller number of live listeners and post the conversation later.’
After a delay, they began the discussion with fewer listeners to avoid crashing the system again. Despite the slow start, a reported 1.3 million people tuned in at various points during the event.
During the chat, Trump talked about a recent assassination attempt against him, sharing vivid details about how he narrowly avoided a serious injury. Trump criticized the lack of coordination from his security team during the incident.
In their conversation, Musk and Trump exchanged mutual praise. Musk complimented Trump on his courage, and Trump praised Musk’s management style. Their talk was filled with a mix of Trump’s frequent complaints, exaggerated claims, and political banter.
Interestingly, this interview follows Trump’s return to X earlier that week after being banned for over a year. Since Musk took ownership, he reinstated Trump’s account, which had been suspended following the January 6 Capitol riots.
Musk has publicly endorsed Trump and has even established a super PAC to support him in the 2024 election, indicating a close political alliance. As the political landscape continues to evolve, their partnership seems to be gaining quite a bit of attention.
