MVA Alliance Confirms Unity for Upcoming Maharashtra Polls
After the exceptional performance in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, the key members of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) signaled a strong sense of unity as they confirmed their alliance for the forthcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. MVA, a coalition of opposition parties in Maharashtra comprising Shiv Sena, NCP, and Congress, reaffirmed their collaboration.
Speaking at a press conference in Mumbai, former Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray expressed optimism about the future of the alliance. He conveyed that the Lok Sabha victory was just the beginning and projected confidence in securing success in the imminent Maharashtra assembly polls.
The MVA alliance members responded to remarks made by Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar, comparing the alliance to the three legs of a rickshaw. Thackeray, in response, emphasized that the battle was to safeguard the Constitution and democracy, drawing parallels between the MVA coalition and the current state of the BJP government.
Thackeray referred to the BJP government’s condition at both the state and central levels and hinted at a possible transition from the Modi government to the NDA government. He raised questions about the sustainability of the current establishment and its continuity in power, especially as the Assembly elections in Maharashtra loom closer on the political horizon.
Former Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan echoed Thackeray’s sentiments and emphasized the crucial role of the electorate in shaping the political landscape of Maharashtra. He pointed out that the overwhelming support received in the Lok Sabha elections was indicative of a shifting tide in favor of the MVA alliance.
