Nakuru County Empowers Youth Through Free Skill-Building Initiatives
Nakuru County’s dedication to youth empowerment through skill-building initiatives was showcased during a recent meeting with youth representatives from Menengai West Ward at the Nakuru Empowerment Center-Bondeni. The focus was on educating the youth about utilizing proper communication channels to address their concerns.
Pastor Alex Maina, the County Chief Officer for Youths, Sports, and Talent, reiterated Governor Susan Kihika’s commitment to equipping the youth with the necessary tools to enhance their skills. He urged the youth representatives to spread awareness about the free projects offered by Nakuru County.
The discussions applauded Pastor Alex Maina for encouraging active public participation among the youth to effectively address their challenges. Garden Odera expressed gratitude to the county’s team for engaging with them and promised to educate other youths in their ward about the county’s supportive initiatives.
Director Josephat Kimemia led the group to the music studio, where over two hundred music artists have had the opportunity to record their music at no cost. The studio operates under specific rules to guide the artists effectively.
Moreover, the Empowerment Center houses a digital hub with computers that enable individuals to acquire essential computer skills. Graduates are even assisted with job placements after completion of their training. The textile hub at the center has also been instrumental in upskilling youths in relevant areas.
The youth were informed that the Empowerment Center offers free skill-building programs and is accessible to all county youths willing to learn under the guidance of trainers from Nakuru Empowerment Center Bondeni.
