In a move signaling continuity, key ministries such as Home, Defence, Finance, and External Affairs have been retained by Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nirmala Sitharaman, and S. Jaishankar respectively.
Among the new faces in the Union Cabinet, former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has been entrusted with the portfolios of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Panchayati Raj. BJP president J.P. Nadda has also returned to the Health Ministry, a role he previously held before taking charge of the ruling party.
President Droupadi Murmu oversaw the official allocation of portfolios to 72 members of the Union Council of Ministers, including the Prime Minister himself. Modi signed his first file as PM post-swearing-in, authorizing the release of the 17th instalment of PM Kisan Nidhi, showcasing the government’s commitment to farmer welfare.
The Cabinet reshuffle marks the beginning of the third term for the Modi government, focusing on continuity while introducing new faces to lead key ministries. This strategic allocation aims to maintain stability and drive forward the government’s agenda for the upcoming tenure.
