Narendra Modi Sworn in for Third Consecutive Term as Prime Minister
Narendra Modi has been sworn in as the Prime Minister for a third consecutive term, joining the likes of Jawaharlal Nehru in achieving this feat. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader will head a coalition government after securing two full terms with a majority.
Prime Minister Modi began his day by paying respects at significant locations, including Raj Ghat for Mahatma Gandhi, Sadaiv Atal for Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and the National War Memorial for fallen soldiers.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the historic Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi, where key figures like Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, and Nitin Gadkari also took their oaths of office alongside other Cabinet Ministers. The event marked a significant moment in Indian politics.
A notable inclusion in the new Cabinet was the representation of MPs from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners, such as the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). MPs from TDP and BJP in Andhra Pradesh, where NDA had a strong presence, were among those who were sworn in during the ceremony.
Various leaders from around South Asia and the Indian Ocean region were set to attend the swearing-in ceremony, highlighting the diplomatic significance of the event. The new Cabinet under PM Modi’s leadership is expected to address a wide range of national and international issues in the days ahead.
