Nathan Cleary Injured Again as Penrith Panthers Hold Off Canterbury Bulldogs
In a tense NRL clash between the Penrith Panthers and the Canterbury Bulldogs, star halfback Nathan Cleary added to New South Wales Origin coach Michael Maguire‘s concerns by limping off the field with a reaggravated hamstring injury. This setback came just before half-time as the Panthers managed to secure a hard-fought 16-10 victory over the Bulldogs at Panther Stadium.
Despite Cleary leaving the field, the Panthers held a 12-0 lead at halftime, with tries from Luke Garner and Brian To'o boosting their advantage. The Bulldogs, however, fought back in the second half, with penalties from Dylan Edwards keeping Penrith ahead on the scoreboard.
The Bulldogs, led by Matt Burton and Jacob Kiraz, managed to score late in the game, showing resilience but falling short as the Panthers sealed their seventh win of the season to maintain their third spot in the NRL ladder.
Throughout the game, the Panthers showcased tremendous defensive effort, while the Bulldogs displayed persistence and pressure, particularly in the second half. Cleary’s injury, a recurring hamstring issue, raises concerns for both the Panthers and the Blues Origin team as the injury-prone season progresses.
