National Grid Suffers Another System Failure, Causing Nationwide Blackout
The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has reported a nationwide blackout following a system failure in the national electricity grid.
Confirmed on Saturday, the AEDC stated that the power outage was a result of a grid malfunction that occurred at 3:10 pm, impacting their franchise areas.
The DisCo is currently collaborating with relevant stakeholders to restore power once the grid is stabilized, ensuring minimal disruption to customers.
This incident marks another occurrence of a system collapse in the country’s electricity grid, following previous blackouts experienced earlier in the year.
On February 4, the national grid encountered its first failure of 2024, leading to widespread power outages across the nation. Subsequent blackouts occurred on March 28 and April 14, highlighting the recurring challenges within the power sector.
