NBA YoungBoy Faces New Gun Charge in Utah
Rapper NBA YoungBoy has landed in some hot water again, but this time it’s in Utah. Just days after he agreed to a plea deal regarding a federal gun charge from 2020, he’s now facing a new felony gun charge.
The rapper, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. This latest charge comes from his April arrest, where officials say he was involved in a large-scale prescription drug fraud operation.
According to court documents, Gaulden was found with a Sig Sauer P365 9mm semi-automatic pistol. Since he has felony convictions from a 2016 case involving a shootout, he’s not allowed to legally own firearms or ammunition.
In addition to the new federal charge, Gaulden also faces state charges related to the same investigation. His upcoming court dates are set for August 29 in Weber County and September 23 in Cache County.
This situation has become quite the saga for the rapper. Just before this new charge was filed, he had agreed to move his 2020 federal gun case from Baton Rouge to Utah, aiming to plead guilty and wrap things up with that case.
In the 2020 Baton Rouge incident, Gaulden was arrested along with several others for showing off guns during a music video shoot. The police eventually found a 9mm handgun and a .45-caliber Glock in his possession.
His legal team is hoping that moving the case to Utah will make things more manageable as he continues to face these serious charges.
