Following the announcement of the Lok Sabha Election Results 2024, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar held a meeting at his official residence ‘Deogiri’ in Mumbai with senior leaders of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) to review the party’s performance. The meeting was attended by key figures from the party, including Maharashtra NCP President Sunil Tatkare and State Ministers Dilip Walse Patil, Chhagan Bhujbal, Hasan Mushrif, Aditi Tatkare, and Ramraje Naik Nimbalkar.

The Lok Sabha Election Results 2024 concluded with the victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on 240 out of 543 seats, while the Indian National Congress secured 99 seats. The election results painted a diverse picture, as despite the BJP falling short of the 272-majority mark, it is poised to collaborate with National Democratic Alliance (NDA) allies to form the government.

Caretaker Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who tendered his resignation to President Droupadi Murmu following the election results, was anticipated to stake claim to form a new government. However, this action has not occurred yet. Key NDA members such as Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu elected Narendra Modi as their leader.

The BJP’s performance in various states, including Tamil Nadu, saw mixed reactions from different political entities. DMK leader TKS Elangovan claimed that the BJP lacks substantial support in Tamil Nadu and relies heavily on its allies to secure votes. On the other hand, Karti Chidambaram, a Congress winning candidate, expressed views on the relationships between BJP and TDP highlighting historical issues.

As discussions unfold post-election results, Fitch Ratings commented on the challenges that the new government might face due to coalition politics and a weakened mandate. Constructing major reforms such as amendments to land and labor laws could experience obstacles in the legislative process, the statement said.

Moreover, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh were seen arriving at the residence of BJP National President JP Nadda in Delhi. The political landscape post-Lok Sabha elections continues to evolve, with talks of alliances, support, and future government formations being central topics.
