Nda Meeting: Nitish Kumar Urges Modi To Swear In Government Quickly

Narendra Modi emerged as the unanimous choice to lead the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for a third consecutive term, following a crucial alliance gathering. Nitish Kumar and N Chandrababu Naidu lent their support to the BJP stalwart as the alliance leader. During the meeting at the NDA alliance, Nitish Kumar had two simple yet important words of advice for Modi: ‘Jaldi Kijiye’ which translates to ‘Hurry Up’.

The Chief Minister of Bihar emphasized the urgency of forming the government without delay. He stated, ‘There should not be any delay in forming the government. We should do it as soon as possible,’ citing sources from India Today.

The new government is anticipated to be sworn in over the upcoming weekend, as reported by PTI, with formalities expedited to prevent last-minute uncertainties that could risk the NDA alliance’s unity.

Jitan Ram Manjhi, the leader of HAM (Secular) and former Bihar chief minister, announced after the NDA meeting that NDA MPs are scheduled to convene on June 7 to officially elect Narendra Modi as their leader before submitting their letters of support to the president.

The NDA meeting on Wednesday was attended by twenty-one leaders from 16 parties, among them N Chandrababu Naidu, Nitish Kumar, Eknath Shinde, Chirag Paswan, H D Kumarawamy, Pawan Kalyan, Bora, and Praful Patel.

Post-meeting, caretaker Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended the NDA partners, underlining the alliance’s commitment to ‘progress and fulfilling regional aspirations.’ The alliance is determined to ‘serve the 140 crore people of India and work towards building a Viksit Bharat,’ he added.

In the recent Lok Sabha Elections 2024, the NDA alliance secured 293 seats, surpassing the majority threshold of 272 in the 543-member House. This outcome clears the path for Narendra Modi to embark on a third consecutive term, a historic precedent since 1962.
