Nebraska Huskers Women's Basketball Vs North Alabama

The Nebraska Huskers women’s basketball team secured a commanding victory over North Alabama, winning 85-48 at the Pinnacle Bank Arena on Tuesday night. This victory marked an impressive run for the Huskers, advancing their season record to 5-0, while the Lions slipped to 2-3.

Callin Hake led the Huskers with a career-high 17 points, along with five rebounds, two assists, and two steals, showcasing her prowess off the bench. Contributing to the team’s double figures was Jessica Petrie, with a career-high 14 points and five rebounds, along with two of Nebraska’s ten blocked shots against North Alabama.

Freshman guard Britt Prince added a solid performance, scoring 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting, while also providing a game-high six assists, three rebounds, and two blocks. Senior Alberte Rimdal also scored 13 points, hitting three out of four three-point attempts and bolstering the defense with five rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

The Huskers’ All-America candidate, Bella Cravens, completed the list of double-figure scorers with 10 points and a team-leading six rebounds. Cravens was one of seven Huskers to secure five or more rebounds, helping Nebraska to dominate the glass with a rebounding margin of 48-32 against the Lions.

Nebraska’s defense was notably robust, holding North Alabama to just 28.8 percent shooting from the field. Despite their struggle, the Lions managed to convert 7-of-18 three-pointers. North Alabama also hit seven of their nine free throws. In contrast, the Huskers shot 48.4 percent from the field and displayed sharp long-range shooting, hitting 8-of-21 from behind the arc.

Jazzy Klinge top scored for North Alabama with 11 points, while Charity Gallegos supported with 10 points, marking the sole players in double figures for the Lions amidst their defeat.

Besides their on-court success, the Huskers faced concern as Natalie Potts sustained an unspecified knee injury during the game. While the incident caused a brief pause, Nebraska coach Amy Williams noted the team’s emotional distress post-game, stating, «She’s pretty upset, her teammates are pretty upset. We’ll just wait to see where we go from here after evaluation.» Potts returned to the sidelines in the second half on crutches without a current timeline for her return.

Nebraska’s schedule continues as they are set to face in-state rival Creighton this Friday at the D.J. Sokol Arena in Omaha. The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. tip-off, accessible to viewers via FloHoops with a subscription.
