In a significant turn of events, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken action in connection to alleged irregularities in conducting the NEET UG exam. The recent arrest of the owner of Jay Jalaram School near Godhra in Panchmahal district, Gujarat adds to the series of arrests made in relation to the paper leak case. The CBI operation spanned across multiple districts including Anand, Kheda, Ahmedabad, and Godhra.
The latest arrest of Dixit Patel brings the total number of individuals apprehended in the case to six, with five others previously held by the Gujarat Police. During the questioning of suspects in the NEET UG paper leak case, Oasis School Principal-cum-District coordinator, Ehsanul Haq, Vice Principal Imtiyaz Alam, and others were previously arrested in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. The allegations included tampering of question papers, further intensifying the scrutiny surrounding the examination process.
In the political arena, disruption arose in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha sessions as the opposition staged protests, demanding a thorough debate on the NEET UG 2024 controversy. President Droupadi Murmu highlighted the issue of paper leaks in the joint parliamentary address, underscoring the government’s commitment to fair investigations and stringent actions against those found guilty.
Additionally, the Supreme Court‘s involvement in overseeing the NEET UG re-test timetable, aiming for results to be unveiled by June 30 to facilitate the commencement of the counselling procedures on July 6, underscores the gravity of the situation and the urgency for resolution.
